Frequently Asked Questions
How do I know if therapy is right for me?
Therapy can help with personal growth, self-improvement, and understanding yourself better. You might consider therapy if something is causing distress and interfering with your life. Some signs that you might benefit from therapy include - feeling overwhelmed, anxious, hopeless or out of control, having problems at work or school, having trouble with family or peer relationships, or have a history of harmful habits or self-destructive behaviors.
What type of therapy is right for me and how do I find a therapist?
Choosing the right therapeutic service depends on your unique circumstances, preferences, and goals. Therapeutic fit with your individual therapist is also immensely important given that therapeutic rapport is a strong indicator of clinical growth and success. A consultation call with one of our clinicians can help guide you through the process, assess your needs, and recommend the most suitable approach or combination of services for your specific goals.
How is treatment structured?
The length of therapy can vary significantly based on individual needs. During our initial sessions, we will collaboratively determine the appropriate length of service that aligns with your goals.
Typically we recommend 60-120 minute evaluation sessions, during which your clinician will collect relevant medical and life history, assess treatment goals, and begin to develop a treatment plan. Ongoing therapy sessions are typically scheduled weekly for 45-60 minutes.
What can I expect from therapy sessions?
A typical therapy session will include exploring current and past thoughts, emotions, and a range of behaviors. We will also explore your value system and core beliefs about the world. Your therapist will provide psychoeducation and teach skills and strategies to support change. There will be an expectation that you think about and work on concepts discussed with your therapist outside of session. Your therapist will discuss your individual treatment plan with you and what your individualized therapy sessions will likely include.
How do I pay for therapy?
We offer a variety of rates depending on clinicians seniority. All services at Evoke are private pay, meaning that we are out-of-network providers for insurance. Please check with your insurance provider about your out-of-network benefits.
Is therapy private?
At Evoke, we adhere to the highest level of ethical guidelines while supporting you and your family. Privacy in therapy is vital to create a non-judgmental, supportive environment to promote growth - however there are a few ethical and legal limits to confidentiality. These limits will be discussed with you throughout the onboarding process and beyond.
